Dalbeattie Men's Shed wins UK "Shed of the Year 2017"

It’s Official – Dalbeattie is Best in the UK.

Dalbeattie Men’s Shed have been selected by the UK Men’s Sheds Association to be their SHED OF THE YEAR, 2017 in recognition of our inspiring community contribution. We always felt that we have a friendly, productive shed; national recognition confirms that we are on the right track, and makes us extremely proud. It also makes us grateful for the community we live in – because we could not have qualified for this award without the support of our families, friends and community – they lie at the heart of:

• DALBEATTIE – and surrounding communities support us in many ways. It is where our members live, and where our support lies. Local businesses, charities, schools, communities and individuals support us with donations, commissions, and encouragement. It is gratifying to see our projects in use within the community, and heart-warming to be entrusted to make, fix, and restore peoples prized possessions.
• MEN’S – we are a welcoming, busy group of guys for whom age is just a number. Our members are not just from Dalbeattie, but from Dundrennan to Dumfries and most points between. Their skills and enthusiasm are amazing.
• SHED – well it’s more like a workshop than a wee shed, and we are extremely grateful to Alan Mazza, Kevin Tutt, and Sam Paterson of KCB Investments for giving us the space in Castle Works , Edingham. Through their generosity and our other supporters we have built work areas for woodwork, metalwork, bicycle/small machine repairs, picture framing, engraving, 3D printing, leatherwork, and many other crafts.

So it’s official - Dalbeattie Men’s Shed is best in the UK and that is credit to the communities in and around Dalbeattie as well as our 50+ signed up Shed members.
