We often receive boxes of items from sheds that are being cleared out, sadly often the contents have not aged well, and may not have been that wonderful even when they were 'mothballed' decades earlier. This unremarkable axe head could have gone for scrap but made a good little project because it was still perfectly functional (it is very difficult to break an axe head). A piece of Ash, from a local tree, was shaped and fitted with new wedges, then lightly scorched with a blowlamp to make it more attractive and functional. The axe is now ready to go and split kindling again for the next 20 years.
